About this Project

The Umlazi Kwamnyandu Node Development Facilitation Project, procured under eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, is an integrated urban development and precinct planning initiative aimed at supporting structured land-use, spatial planning, economic facilitation and infrastructure alignment within the Kwamnyandu node in Ward 87 of Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.

The scope of the tender encompassed professional services in town/regional/spatial planning, transport and traffic engineering, architectural and engineering consulting, and development facilitation to guide sustainable precinct development that responds to existing urban conditions, socio-economic opportunities, and municipal growth objectives.

The project’s deliverables included preparing comprehensive planning frameworks that coordinate land-use planning with municipal spatial policy, optimise connectivity and access, enable mixed-use activity nodes, and inform phased infrastructure investment and implementation strategies to unlock the area’s development potential. Aligned with eThekwini’s broader spatial development frameworks and precinct planning objectives, the initiative ensures that future land development, public investment and private sector opportunities are well integrated and support long-term municipal planning outcomes.
