About this Project

The Umlazi J Node Precinct Plan Project was procured through the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality for the preparation of a comprehensive precinct plan for Ward 83’s Umlazi J Node. A strategic urban development area within the Umlazi township that requires integrated land-use, economic activation, connectivity and spatial structuring to support sustainable growth and investment.

The tender scope called for multidisciplinary professional services, including urban/town planning, spatial analysis, transport planning, infrastructure alignment, and stakeholder engagement to develop a precinct framework that coordinates existing conditions with future municipal spatial development objectives, optimises accessibility, enables mixed-use and catalytic development nodes, and informs phased implementation strategies and investment programmes across land-use, mobility and public space. The resulting precinct plan provides a clear decision-support framework for land-use management, infrastructure prioritisation and public/private sector investment, aligning with broader municipal spatial development policies and nodal regeneration priorities.
